Solon Salmon

The Kennebec Solon trip

  • The Solon section of the Kennebec River is known for its brown trout. This historic 8-mile stretch of river was used during the Maine log drives. This provides the river with deep channels, undercut banks, islands, and submerged structures. This is one of the few places you have a chance of catching brown trout, brook trout, rainbow trout, and landlocked salmon all in the same day. This trip also provides shallow spots where the anglers can take breaks and wade or swim. Trips with more than one customer will utilize two or more canoes. A basic knowledge of canoes and paddling is required prior to the trip.

  • Trips start at $500 for up to three anglers.

  • More than three anglers require a second guide

  • Trips are 8 - 10 hours

  • Lunch will be provided

The Kennebec Shamut trip

  • The Shamut section of the Kennebec River is known for its smallmouth bass. This 4-mile stretch of the Kennebec provides the chance to catch anywhere from 20-50 smallmouth bass per trip. This is a fast-paced heavy action trip. Trips with more than one customer will utilize two or more canoes. A basic knowledge of canoes and paddling is required prior to the trip.

  • Trips start at $400 for up to three anglers.

  • More than three anglers require a second guide

  • Trips are 4 - 6 hours
